Request for Quotation (RFQ)
As Gaeilge: Iarratas ar Luachan
Also known as: RFQ
Last reviewed April 2026
A lighter-touch process for low-value purchases where suppliers submit a price quote against a short brief.
A quotation-only process used by Irish public bodies for low-value procurement, typically below €50k. Suppliers receive a short brief and submit a fixed price (and sometimes a brief methodology). Public Spending Code rules require at least three written quotes for purchases between €5k and €25k. RFQs sit below the formal RFT process and are often run by email or via eTenders mini-competitions.
