Resilient Industry Supply Chain Enhancement for SMEs (RISE-SME)

Partner

RISE-SME aims at developing a model that can assist companies in detecting and anticipating disruptions in their supply chains. The main outcome of RISE-SME is to build a methodology for different industrial ecosystems, that can identify disruptions and technological opportunities for the uptake of advanced technologies in SMEs, so as to enable flexible, agile and resilient supply chains that can easily be adapted. In order to do so, the following activities will be deployed: • Mapping of existing industrial ecosystems and its associated supply chain models, in order to identify critical dependencies and weaknesses in specific industrial ecosystem • Developing a methodology for detecting and anticipating disruptions with long term effects on the supply chain, to reduce strategic dependencies on critical products, especially on advanced technologies • Mapping and scouting advanced technologies and their associated solutions from technology suppliers that can help supply chain processes to be less uncertain and complex • Analysing existing technology gaps in several industrial ecosystems, leading to a matchmaking tool with tech-savvy and traditional SMEs • Building alliances among traditional and tech-savvy SMEs through cluster organisations and DIHs in the industrial ecosystem, resulting into the launch of a pilot in each one of the ecosystems The project consortium will leverage their knowledge on supply chain and their reach to key supply chain actors, traditional SMEs and technology suppliers. The involvement of technology partners and entities representing tech-savvy SMEs will ensure a thorough consideration of the following advanced technologies: robotics, AI, IoT, Blockchain, edge computing, AR/VR solutions, B2B digital platforms, Big Data/analytics technology, 3D printing, advanced materials, micro- and nanoelectronics, nanotechnologies and photonics, among others.

Climate Monitoring and Decision Support Framework for Sand Fly-borne Diseases Detection and Mitigation with COst-benefit and Climate-policy MeasureS (CLIMOS)

Partner

CLIMOS aims to assist mitigation of climate- and climate change-induced emergence, transmission and spread of vector-borne and zoonotic pathogens based on Eco-health and One Health approaches. This will be achieved by quantifying climate and environmental-related drivers of sand fly vector populations and the sand fly-borne diseases (SFBDs) across Europe. The project will provide an Early Warning System (EWS) and decision support frameworks for more accurate climate and health modelling, prognosis of infection risk and range expansions, and adaptation options. Socio-economic analysis and risk assessments will inform decision support providing social and cost-benefit evaluations. Towards these goals, an open access interactive CLIMOS online platform will be developed containing data on vector and SFBD species geography and up-to-date monitoring, climate, environment, and mathematical algorithms. The accompanying educational platform will enable evidence-based mitigation decision-making by social, environmental and financial stakeholders, public bodies and policy makers. CLIMOS will generate science-based predictions, actions and policy-relevant recommendations to mitigate climate change-induced emergence and spread of SFBDs, by providing: precision vector and infection surveillance methods and networks across 14 countries; creation of big data time series (on vectors, disease, micro and macroclimate, environment and health, and on infection risk) to be available also for use at the EU Climate and Health Observatory, and as European Commission ISA JoinUP open-source tool for public and healthcare; new interoperability data ontologies (Open Biological and Biomedical Ontology [OBO] and Open Geospatial Consortium [OGC] for SFBDs and climate); new innovative technical solutions for vector monitoring (new trapping solution and EWS components); and at least 30 peer-reviewed open access publications, 3 policy reports, and diversity of public engagement materials. Project CLIMOS is part of the European cluster on climate change and health.

6G-PATH: 6G Pilots and Trials Through Europe (6G-PATH)

Partner

The path towards 6G is beginning now that 5G matured and is being deployed worldwide both publicly and privately. While 5G brought a step up in many fields, such as, performance and efficiency, more is always expected in terms of efficiency by the overall community and in terms of performance by industry and technology providers who want to further increase their offerings and products. Continuous demands for higher throughput, lower latency and more energy efficient communications needs to be supported by relevant use cases that can claim and demonstrate the needs for these requests. 6G-PATH goal is to help foster the further development and integration of new and improved tools and products from EU companies with 5G/6G, while also measuring relevant KPIs and KVIs. To achieve this, 7 testbeds will be part of the project consortium, which will be used by 10 use cases spread across four key verticals: Health, Education, Smart Cities and Farming. Moreover, a relevant portion of the budget will be used for FSTP, where we envision the integration of 2 new Pilot Sites, extend the testbeds with 10 additional technologies, as well as 30 new Use Cases, through Open Calls, to further involve the community and obtain more metrics and outcomes. 6G-PATH plans to work closely with other ongoing/starting Stream-B and Stream-C projects in a feedback loop, where the innovations that partners are achieving in other projects can be deployed and further tested by our pool of use cases and Open Calls, while sharing our results and outcomes to further cement the innovation being made.

INTEGRATED SURVEILLANCE ECOSYSTEM FOR EUROPEAN AUTHORITIES RESPONSIBLE FOR MARITIME OPERATIONS LEVERAGED BY RELIABLE AND ENHANCED AERIAL SUPPORT (I-SEAMORE)

Partner

I-SEAMORE is an Ecosystem composed of an advanced platform solution to host and manage the operation of several innovative assets, services and systems that aim to provide European Authorities with increased situational awareness and operational capabilities for Maritime surveillance operations resorting to aerial and water surface support. The core platform (infrastructure and software layers) is conceptualized to be deployed and operated at Maritime Operation Centres (MOCs) with interfaces to other systems including the UxVs Ground Control Stations (GCSs), as well as external systems. It thus provides end-users with a holistic platform capable of handling several multipurpose tasks including, e.g., wide maritime border and coastal areas monitoring, analysis of potential threats, support to search and rescue operations, detection of illegal activities, among others. Such tasks will be possible since I-SEAMORE platform provides a complete set of functionalities and capabilities to mission commanders, focusing on 4 main pillars: 1) employment and indirect tasking of multiple types of long-endurance Unmanned Assets (aerial and water surface), 2) exploitation of heterogeneous data sources e.g. payload data and open data sources including Copernicus Services, 3) provision of a common operational picture empowered by a novel and comprehensive suite of data fusion services based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data Analysis, for optimal decision making and successful mission execution of the desired missions, and 4) interoperability within the Ecosystem and its interface with key existing external systems. Moreover, the project will also generate additional knowledge to support the uptake of the solution at EU level, as well as multi-country, multi-authority collaboration, including novel concepts of operation, standard operating procedures for joint operations, and new methodologies for co-creation and validation of maritime security solutions by end-users.

Digital Modelling and Simulation for Design, Processing and Manufacturing of Advanced Materials (DiMAT)

Partner

European materials industry is considered a key enabler for industrial development and the EU has a historically strategic position in this sector. However, there is a low uptake in European materials industry for digital technologies. Hereby, it is crucial to provide all stakeholders of the EU with advanced digital technologies to evolve towards an agile European materials industry with intelligent enterprises that maximise and integrate the utility of digital materials sciences knowledge. DiMAT will develop Open Digital Tools with a set of advanced technologies for offering European SMEs and Mid-Caps an affordable (in terms of cost, implementation and usability) full modelling, simulation and optimisation system in each stage of the material value chain (design, processing and manufacturing) for improving quality, sustainability, effectiveness, and competitiveness of materials. DiMAT will deploy 3 integrated Suites: 1) DiMAT Data and Assessment Suite: digital technologies for storing, sharing, representing and assessing materials data; 2) DiMAT DiMAT Modelling and Design Suite: digital technologies for material design, in terms of their internal structure, properties and performance, in order to predict the material behaviour before manufacturing; 3) DiMAT Simulation and Optimisation Suite: digital technologies for creating efficient materials manufacturing simulation processes and determining the behaviour of the material mechanical characterization models to be used in the AI training and prediction. The DiMAT Suites will be demonstrated in 4 Pilots of European designers and producers of different materials: textile, composite, glass and graphite.
